Kindness Quilts
Wrapping a handmade quilt around you can sometimes be the next best thing to a hug.
Nominate someone special for a tactile reminder that you care.
I have always been passionate about supporting people who have been through exile or trauma. Over the years I have worked in refugee camps in East Africa, disaster relief projects in north Africa and Asia, supported asylum seekers living in the UK, and run a drop-in service for homeless people in London. At this point in my life where I am not actively employed in the charity sector, it’s important to me to continue with small acts of solidarity through my work. For every five pieces commissioned, I make a bespoke quilt for a person or family who would benefit - completely free of charge.
Quilts can provide comfort in so many ways - warmth when it’s cold, a visual reminder of another person’s care, or sometimes as a collage of materials that link you to another person, time or place. If you know someone who has gone through a traumatic bereavement or displacement, or would benefit for any other reason, then please click the link above to send me an email.
